Bollywood Reacts to Pahalgam Tragedy: ‘This Cannot Be Forgiven’

In what is being described as one of the most horrific recent acts of terrorism in the Valley, unarmed civilians were brutally attacked in what authorities believe was a coordinated strike.

New Delhi – A tragic and barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has sent shockwaves through the nation. The assault, which targeted innocent tourists and claimed over 20 lives, has evoked strong condemnation and emotional outpourings from across the country—including prominent figures from the entertainment industry, political leadership, and civil society.

In what is being described as one of the most horrific recent acts of terrorism in the Valley, unarmed civilians were brutally attacked in what authorities believe was a coordinated strike. The sheer brutality of the incident has sparked national mourning and a renewed call for unity and resilience against terrorism.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on an official visit to Saudi Arabia, returned to India immediately upon learning about the attack. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he expressed strong condemnation and reassured the nation of swift action:
“I strongly condemn the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured person recovers as soon as possible. All possible assistance is being provided to those affected. Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice…they will not be spared! Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakeable, and it will get even stronger”.

The tragedy has resonated deeply within Bollywood, with actors, filmmakers, and television personalities expressing grief, outrage, and calls for national solidarity.

Akshay Kumar wrote on X, “Shocked to hear the news of the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam. Killing innocent people like this is sheer brutality. Praying for their families”.

Vicky Kaushal, in an emotional message on Instagram Stories, said, “Can’t imagine the pain of the family members who lost their loved ones in the absolutely inhumane act of terrorism in Pahalgam. My deepest condolences and prayers”.

Filmmaker Karan Johar reshared a post by journalist Faye D’Souza and added, “This is heartbreaking … Prayers to the families and loved ones of the innocent lives lost in this heinous attack”…

Sanjay Dutt, visibly shaken, wrote, “They killed our people brutally. This cannot be forgiven. These terrorists should know that we will not sit silent. We have to retaliate, I request our Prime Minister, Narendra Modi ji, Home Minister Amit Shah ji and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ji to give them the punishment they deserve”.

Hina Khan, a well-known television actress who recently visited Kashmir with her mother, expressed her anguish in a heartfelt Instagram Story, writing with a broken heart emoji, “Pahalgam aakhiri kyon, why, why, why”?

Vivek Agnihotri, director of The Kashmir Files, took to X from Chicago, saying, “OMG. OMG. OMG. Just landed in Chicago to learn about this inhuman tragedy. I had feared this for a long time. I’ve been saying all along, it wasn’t peace in Kashmir, it was a strategic silence. I urge Amit Shah ji to immediately safeguard both Kashmir and Bengal before another tragedy unfolds. I know their tactics”.

Vivek Oberoi also shared a powerful message: “A shadow of sorrow falls heavy today, as news of the horrific terror attack in Kashmir breaks our hearts. Sending deepest condolences and prayers to all the families who have tragically lost loved ones. Now, more than ever, the world must come together in solidarity against such hatred, striving for strength, healing and enduring peace. #PeaceNotTerror”

Sidharth Malhotra posted: “The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on innocent civilians is a cowardly act. I have full faith in our armed forces and I’m sure they will do the needful and ensure justice. My prayers and thoughts are with the families of the innocent victims. Jai Hind”!

Raveena Tandon conveyed her sorrow and called for unity: “Om Shanti. condolences. Shocked and angry. No words to express the anguish. Prayers and strength to the victims. Time we all let go of petty in-house fighting, UNITE and realise the true enemy”.

This senseless act of violence has left the nation grieving, but it has also brought forth a wave of solidarity, with citizens and leaders alike calling for justice and the need to safeguard national unity and security. Investigations are underway, and security has been heightened across sensitive zones in Jammu and Kashmir.

The government has promised the harshest punishment for those responsible, and national security agencies are working in close coordination to track down the perpetrators.
