Russian Drone Strike Kills Three, Including Child, in Ukraine’s Dnipro

Dnipro, Ukraine – A Russian drone attack on the Ukrainian city of Dnipro late Wednesday claimed the lives of at least three people, including a young girl, and injured 28 others, local authorities reported. The assault, which sparked multiple fires across the city, marks a deadly escalation in Russia’s aerial campaign amid ongoing calls for peace.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine confirmed the attack via Telegram, stating, “Late in the evening, the enemy attacked the city of Dnipro with drones. The Russians killed three people, including one child.” Dnipropetrovsk regional governor Sergiy Lysak identified a young girl and an elderly woman among the deceased, with a nine-month-old girl among the wounded. Fires erupted across Dnipro, damaging residential buildings, a student dormitory, and a food processing plant, according to local officials. Emergency services worked through the night to extinguish the blazes, with images showing firefighters battling flames in the city’s central districts. Dnipro Mayor Borys Filatov noted that one strike landed just 100 meters from municipal offices, underscoring the attack’s proximity to civilian infrastructure.

The strike follows a Russian ballistic missile attack on Sumy, Ukraine, on Sunday, which killed at least 35 people, highlighting the intensifying aerial assaults. Despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s repeated calls for a ceasefire to end over three years of conflict, both Russia and Ukraine have ramped up drone and missile strikes, dimming hopes for an immediate truce.
