New York – With the official launch still months away, excitement is already building around the Google Pixel Watch 4, the next-generation smartwatch expected to debut alongside the Pixel 10 series in October 2025. Early leaks and renders suggest that Google is preparing a significant design upgrade, with a thicker body—a move likely aimed at solving one of the most consistent criticisms of the Pixel Watch lineup: battery life.
According to OnLeaks (Steve Hemmerstoffer) in collaboration with 91Mobiles, the Pixel Watch 4 is expected to feature a body that measures 14.3mm in thickness, up from the 12.3mm profile of its predecessor, the Pixel Watch 3. While the overall design retains the signature circular shape, the added bulk hints at a larger battery capacity—a much-needed improvement for users who found the previous generation’s battery underwhelming.
For comparison, the Pixel Watch 3 (41mm model) was equipped with a 307mAh battery, delivering around 22 hours of use, while the 45mm variant offered a 420mAh battery. With competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 (425mAh) and the Apple Watch Series 9 (up to 36 hours battery life) raising the bar, Google is clearly making a push to catch up in battery performance.
Another notable change is the potential switch to Qi wireless charging. The newly leaked 5K renders show a back panel free of traditional magnetic charging pins, suggesting that Google might finally ditch the USB-C magnetic charger in favor of true wireless charging, a feature that was notably missing in the Pixel Watch 3.
In terms of display, the Pixel Watch 4 appears to embrace a more edge-to-edge design, which not only gives it a sleeker and more modern aesthetic, but may also enhance usability. The renders also reveal two additional side buttons flanking the speaker—these could be used for quick access shortcuts or dedicated fitness controls, a move that would appeal to both casual users and fitness enthusiasts alike.
Launch Timeline & Expectations
The Pixel Watch 4 is expected to launch in October 2025, alongside Google’s flagship Pixel 10 smartphones.
Looking back, the Pixel Watch 3, which launched in 2024, was praised for its larger 45mm dial, Actua Display with up to 2000 nits brightness, improved heart rate tracking, and faster charging. While it was called “one of the best Android smartwatches you can buy right now”, some features like wireless charging and regional availability of health features such as Pulse Detection were noticeably absent.
With the Pixel Watch 4, users can expect Google to deliver better battery life, wireless charging, a more immersive display, and hopefully, broader availability of health features, especially in markets like India, where features like ECG and Pulse Detection have been limited or unavailable.
As Apple and Samsung gear up for their next-gen smartwatch reveals later this year, all eyes will be on Google to see if the Pixel Watch 4 can truly deliver a compelling Android alternative.
