Xi Urges Stronger China-India Ties in ‘Dragon-Elephant Tango’

The gesture comes as tensions between the two countries have gradually eased following the 2020 border clash in the Himalayas.

Beijing: Chinese President Xi Jinping has urged closer cooperation between China and India, describing their relationship as a “Dragon-Elephant tango”. In a message to Indian President Droupadi Murmu, Xi emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations.

The exchange of congratulatory messages took place on Tuesday, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and India. The gesture comes as tensions between the two countries have gradually eased following the 2020 border clash in the Himalayas.

Xi underscored the necessity of peaceful coexistence and expressed willingness to enhance communication and coordination on major international issues. He also reiterated Beijing’s commitment to working with New Delhi to uphold stability in border regions and promote regional peace.
