Kyiv: Russian drone strikes hit multiple locations in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city, late Saturday, targeting a military hospital, a shopping center, apartment buildings, and an office complex. The attacks left two people dead and injured at least 25, according to local officials and the Ukrainian military.
“According to preliminary information, there were injuries among the servicemen undergoing treatment in the medical centre,” Ukraine’s General Staff stated on the Telegram messaging app. The statement condemned the “deliberate, targeted shelling” of the facility, calling it another addition to the “long list of vile and cynical crimes committed by the Russians since the beginning of the unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.”
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that one of the deceased victims was recovered from beneath the rubble. He put the overall number of injured at 27. He also noted that one of the drones triggered a fire at an office building.

Regional Governor Oleh Syniehubov confirmed that 25 people were wounded, including a 15-year-old girl who remains in serious condition. However, prosecutors cited by public broadcaster Suspilne reported a higher toll, placing the number of injured at 30. Suspilne also shared images of rescue teams in protective gear sifting through debris, alongside twisted metal and shattered construction materials outside the impacted buildings.

Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine, withstood Russian attempts to capture it in the early weeks of the invasion in February 2022. However, as Moscow’s forces redirected their focus to securing large areas of eastern Ukraine, the city has continued to endure frequent aerial bombardments.
