Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reaffirmed his commitment to ending the ongoing war with Russia, confirming upcoming high-level discussions involving American and Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia. The talks aim to explore diplomatic solutions to the prolonged conflict.
This meeting marks the first significant engagement between US and Ukrainian officials since Zelenskyy met with former US President Donald Trump on February 28. Additionally, Ukraine’s diplomatic team recently met with UK officials in Kyiv to coordinate efforts to accelerate peace negotiations.
Zelenskyy described the discussions in Kyiv as “highly productive,” emphasizing Ukraine’s dedication to a just and lasting peace. In a post on X, he expressed gratitude for the UK’s continued support, stating, “Ukraine is determined to do everything to end this war with a just and lasting peace as soon as possible.”

The diplomatic developments follow Zelenskyy’s participation in a European leaders’ summit in London on March 2, where discussions focused on Ukraine’s future in Europe and long-term security commitments. During his UK visit, he met with Prime Minister Keir Starmer and King Charles, addressing security challenges and Ukraine’s post-war recovery. Notably, Ukraine and the UK had previously signed a 100-year partnership agreement focused on economic and technological cooperation.
Zelenskyy also confirmed that he will travel to Saudi Arabia next week, where he is scheduled to meet Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Monday. Ukrainian diplomatic and military representatives will remain in Jeddah for further discussions with the American delegation on Tuesday.

He emphasized Kyiv’s commitment to constructive dialogue, reiterating that Ukraine has been pursuing peace since the start of the war and has presented “realistic proposals” to resolve the conflict. He underscored the urgency of taking concrete steps toward ending the war.

Meanwhile, US envoy Steve Witkoff confirmed he will meet with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia to discuss an “initial ceasefire” and a broader framework for a long-term resolution. Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the talks will be held in Jeddah.
