Amazon Prime Video Rolls Out AI-Powered Dubbing to Enhance Global Accessibility

Amazon Prime Video’s move follows similar AI-powered advancements in the entertainment industry

Mumbai: Amazon Prime Video is set to introduce AI-assisted dubbing for select movies and series, starting Wednesday, as part of its ongoing efforts to expand accessibility and cater to a global audience. The feature will initially provide English and Spanish dubs for 12 licensed titles, the company confirmed.

This initiative is part of a growing industry trend where media companies are increasingly leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance user experience and improve multilingual content accessibility.

Breaking Language Barriers with AI-Powered Dubbing

The AI-driven dubbing technology will be applied exclusively to films and series that currently lack dubbed versions, ensuring that viewers across different regions can enjoy a broader selection of content in their preferred language. A Prime Video spokesperson emphasized the significance of this development, stating:

“This is an important step toward making more content accessible to global audiences”.

With over 200 million subscribers worldwide, Amazon’s investment in AI-generated language dubbing reflects its strategy to enhance the streaming experience while reducing the time and cost associated with traditional dubbing processes.

AI in Entertainment: A Growing Industry Trend

Amazon Prime Video’s move follows similar AI-powered advancements in the entertainment industry. Last year, Walt Disney’s ESPN explored the use of artificial intelligence to personalize news and sports recaps for younger audiences, particularly through its flagship show, “SportsCenter”.

Although Amazon has not yet disclosed which titles will feature AI-generated dubs first, industry experts anticipate that the technology will gradually expand to more languages and additional content over time. If successful, this AI-driven approach could redefine how streaming platforms handle multilingual content, making global entertainment more accessible and seamless than ever.
