Fire at Russian Oil Pipeline Extinguished After Ukrainian Strike

Ukraine's military claimed that the Novoshakhtinsk refinery was once again set ablaze.

Moscow: Russian authorities have successfully extinguished fires at an oil pipeline in the southern Rostov region following a Ukrainian drone attack, a regional official confirmed on Tuesday. The incident did not result in any injuries.

Drone Strikes Target Industrial Sites

According to Yuri Slyusar, the acting governor of the Rostov region, the overnight drone attacks targeted industrial sites but did not cause significant additional damage beyond the fires. However, he did not specify which pipeline had been affected.

“Fortunately, no one was hurt,” Slyusar stated on Telegram.

Earlier, he reported that workers had been evacuated from several sites in the region, which is located just across the border from Ukraine. Russian air defense units also intercepted a drone near Novoshakhtinsk, an area where an oil refinery has previously been targeted by similar strikes.

Ukraine Claims Refinery Hit Again

Ukraine’s military claimed that the Novoshakhtinsk refinery was once again set ablaze, though this assertion has not been independently verified.

Ukraine maintains that its strikes on Russian territory are aimed at infrastructure critical to Moscow’s military operations, arguing that these attacks are in retaliation for Russia’s ongoing bombardment of Ukrainian cities since the war began three years ago.
