North Korea’s military ties with Russia face global scrutiny amid fears of escalating regional tensions.

Seoul: North Korea has deployed additional troops to Russia’s Kursk region, though the exact number remains unclear, according to South Korean media reports citing the country’s intelligence agency.

The National Intelligence Service (NIS) has previously reported that more than 11,000 North Korean troops have been sent to Russia to support its war effort against Ukraine. However, North Korea has not officially acknowledged any military involvement in the conflict.

Deployment to Russian Battlegrounds

The reported deployment follows recent border clashes in western Russia, where Ukrainian forces have launched incursions into the Kursk region. While the exact role of the North Korean troops remains unspecified, the move suggests deepening military cooperation between Pyongyang and Moscow.
