Chhaava Box Office Collection: Vicky Kaushal’s Epic Drama Crosses ₹500 Crore, Set to Eclipse Padmaavat’s Record

Chhaava to be made tax-free in Chhattisgarh, boosting its box office collections.

Mumbai: Chhaava, the much-anticipated period drama starring Vicky Kaushal, continues to create waves at the box office, showing no signs of slowing down. Since its release on February 14, the film has been a dominant force at the ticket counters, and now, it has surpassed a significant milestone: ₹500 crore in global collections.

In a major development on February 26, Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that Chhaava would be made tax-free in the state, contributing to a notable 24.32% surge in the film’s collections. CM Sai emphasized the film’s cultural significance, calling it “a tribute to our historical traditions, courage, and self-respect”. He further urged citizens to watch the film to understand the legacy of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.

This announcement follows the film’s tax-free status in Madhya Pradesh and Goa, with the latter granting the status on the occasion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary. These steps have undoubtedly fueled the film’s box office success.

According to Sacnilk, Chhaava has become the first Indian film of 2025 to cross the ₹500 crore gross mark in just 12 days. This remarkable feat places it among the fastest Hindi films to reach this milestone. With its consistent performance, Chhaava is now on track to challenge Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat for the title of the highest-grossing historical epic at the Indian box office. Furthermore, it is well on its way to becoming the biggest Indian grosser in this genre globally.

Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 13: A Close Look at the Numbers

On February 26, Chhaava continued to perform well, with the movie grossing ₹23 crore net in India. This brings the domestic total for its 13-day run to ₹386.25 crore.

Globally, the film’s earnings have been nothing short of phenomenal, amassing a total of ₹509.75 crore in gross collections within its first 12 days. This includes ₹75 crore from the international market, while ₹434.75 crore comes from domestic earnings. Maddock Films, the production house behind the film, also shared on Instagram that the film’s domestic net collection stands at ₹372.84 crore.

Worldwide Impact

In terms of worldwide box office performance, Chhaava has shown a particularly strong presence in both domestic and international markets, proving to be a highly bankable film globally.

What’s Next for Chhaava?

As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Chhaava is expected to step into the coveted ₹400 crore club in India by Day 14. He tweeted, “#Chhaava remains rock-solid, collecting close to ₹20 crore on second Tuesday [Day 12]… In fact, Tuesday [Day 12] saw a marginal increase compared to Monday [Day 11], with evening and night shows showing solid occupancy”.

The movie’s performance thus far suggests that it will continue to climb the box office charts and could soon overtake several other box office records. The incredible response from audiences, coupled with the film’s nationwide tax-free status, has set it up for even more success in the coming weeks.

Chhaava is a game-changer in the historical epic genre, and its ongoing box office success is a testament to the powerful storytelling and stellar performances led by Vicky Kaushal. The film is not only resonating with audiences across India but is also making a mark in international markets. If its momentum continues, Chhaava may well become one of the most celebrated films of 2025, and could potentially topple some of the biggest box office records in Indian cinema history.
