Israel to Release Palestinian Prisoners Following Hostage Handover

Hamas is set to release three Israeli hostages - Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami.

Israel’s Prison Service is gearing up to release 183 Palestinian security prisoners. Among those to be freed are 18 individuals serving life sentences. The release will proceed from Keziot and Ofer prisons once the confirmation of the release of three Israeli hostages by Hamas is secured.

The Palestinian prisoners include 111 individuals detained during military operations in Gaza during the recent war, and 72 from the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Additionally, seven of these prisoners will be deported upon their release, indicating a complex interplay of security measures and diplomatic negotiations.

Hamas Prepares to Release 3 Israeli Hostages

Parallel to this, Hamas has organized the release of three Israeli hostages. According to an Israeli defense official, a Red Cross convoy is currently en route to Deir al-Balah in central Gaza to facilitate the handover. The hostages, identified as Eli Sharabi, Or Levy, and Ohad Ben Ami, will be handed over to IDF troops. Once in Israeli custody, they will be swiftly escorted out of the region. Israeli Air Force helicopters are on standby, ready to transport them to hospitals in central Israel for initial medical assessments and further care.

This exchange is part of a broader ceasefire agreement aimed at reducing hostilities and returning captives to their respective sides. The event marks a critical moment in the peace process, with both sides taking steps towards de-escalation amidst a backdrop of ongoing tension and conflict.
