New Delhi – The Republic Day Parade 2025 unfolded with grandeur at Kartavya Path as President Droupadi Murmu unfurled the national flag, followed by a salute from Parade Commander Lt General Bhawnish Kumar. The parade showcased India’s cultural and military might, with more than 18 marching contingents and 31 tableaux.
The event kicked off with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to martyrs at the National War Memorial. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by a military contingent from Indonesia participating in the march-past.

- Military Splendor: The parade featured a tri-service tableau for the first time, emphasizing jointness among the Armed Forces. A formation of three Sukhoi-30 MKI aircraft, called the “Trishul,” led by Group Captain Manish Arora, and the Jaguar aircraft’s “Amritkal” formation dazzled spectators.
- Cultural Extravaganza: Over 5,000 artists performed along Kartavya Path in colorful traditional attire, presenting an 11-minute cultural display titled “Jayati Jaya Mama Bharatam.” State tableaux highlighted India’s diversity, including Uttar Pradesh’s depiction of the Mahakumbh and Haryana’s showcase of Kurukshetra’s heritage.
- Daredevil Stunts: The Indian Army’s daredevils wowed the audience with thrilling stunts on motorcycles, a staple attraction of the parade.
- Special Participants: Delhi Police’s women marching band participated for the second consecutive year, while the NCC girls’ contingent and a column featuring Robo Dogs added innovation to tradition.
Safety Measures
Delhi remained under high security with over 70,000 police personnel deployed to ensure safety. Approximately 10,000 special guests from various walks of life were invited to witness the event live at Kartavya Path.
Themes of 2025 Parade
The parade’s theme, “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas,” reflected India’s heritage and progress. The tableau from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs honored heroes like Birsa Munda, while DRDO’s “Raksha Kawach” highlighted advancements in modern warfare technology.
Spectacular Tableau Displays
- Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu: Their tableau featured a striking depiction of the Yellowfin Tuna, a significant marine species from the Arabian Sea.
- Haryana: The state celebrated women’s empowerment and technological innovation, with a nod to the sacred battlefield of Kurukshetra.
- Uttarakhand: Its tableau emphasized the spiritual richness of Devbhoomi.
Special Performances
The day concluded with a display of national pride and unity, featuring synchronized performances by over 140 Navy personnel and other armed forces units marching shoulder to shoulder.
