Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan Attacked, Police Launch Probe

He was promptly taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now reported to be in stable condition.

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence in Mumbai early Thursday morning. The attacker, an unidentified intruder, reportedly broke into the actor’s home around 3:30 a.m., leading to a physical altercation that left Saif with multiple injuries, including one near his spinal cord. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now reportedly out of danger.

According to Mumbai Police, Saif’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and their sons, Taimur and Jeh, were present in the house at the time of the incident but remained unharmed.

Police and Family Statements

Deputy Commissioner of Police Dixit Gedam briefed the media, stating:
“An unidentified person intruded into the residence of actor Saif Ali Khan. The actor and the intruder fought. The actor was injured and is being treated. An investigation is ongoing.”

Saif Ali Khan’s team also released an official statement requesting privacy:
“There was an attempted burglary at Mr. Saif Ali Khan’s residence. He is currently in hospital undergoing surgery. We request the media and fans to be patient. It is a police matter. We will keep you updated on the situation.”

Medical Update from Lilavati Hospital

A medical team at Lilavati Hospital, led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain, and anesthesiologist Dr. Nisha Gandhi, provided an update on Saif’s condition. Dr. Uttamani confirmed:
“Saif Ali Khan was stabbed by an unidentified person at his Bandra home and brought in at 3:30 a.m. He had six stab wounds, two of which were deep. One was dangerously close to the spine. He is being operated upon and is in stable condition.”

Security Concerns in Mumbai

The attack comes months after two men, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, fired shots outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra. These incidents have prompted questions about the safety of high-profile individuals in Mumbai.

Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the state government and police, saying:
“What a shame that Mumbai sees another high-profile attempt on life. The attack on Saif Ali Khan yet again raises questions on Mumbai Police and the Home Minister.”

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Clyde Crasto echoed similar concerns, emphasizing the diminishing fear of law in Maharashtra:
“Attack on Saif Ali Khan is a cause for concern because if such high-profile people with levels of security can be attacked in their homes, then what could happen to common citizens? Fear of law seems to be at a low in Maharashtra due to leniencies in the past couple of years.”

The Mumbai Police have launched a full-scale investigation to identify and apprehend the attacker.
