Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s Ministry of Trade announced that it has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on certain flat-rolled iron or non-alloy steel products imported from China, India, Japan, and South Korea. These measures target products with a width exceeding 600mm (23.62 inches), with duties ranging from 2.52% to 36.80%. The new duties took effect on January 11.
The provisional anti-dumping duties are set to remain in place for up to 120 days, with a final decision to be reached by May 10. Stakeholders have until January 20 to submit feedback on the preliminary determination. This action follows an investigation into the imports from the four countries, which was initiated in August after a domestic producer filed a petition.

The ministry’s statement indicated that the petitioner claimed these imports were being sold at significantly lower prices than those in the domestic market, resulting in material harm to Malaysia’s domestic industry.
