Taiwan Shows Off Sea Defenses As Tensions With China Escalate

Taiwan demonstrates its naval readiness with missile boats and stealth corvettes near Kaohsiung, in response to escalating Chinese military activities.

KAOHSIUNG, TAIWAN – In a bold display of naval readiness, Taiwan has deployed its agile Kuang Hua VI missile boats and the stealthy Tuo Chiang-class corvettes near the strategic port city of Kaohsiung. This move comes amid increasing tensions with China, as the island nation braces for potential conflict.

The Kuang Hua VI and Tuo Chiang-class vessels, known for their speed and firepower, were showcased in maneuvers aimed at deterring any Chinese military action. These ships are specifically designed to intercept and engage Chinese naval forces within the 24-nautical mile defensive perimeter around Taiwan.

The escalation follows a pattern of persistent Chinese military incursions, including naval ships, aircraft, and large-scale military exercises that have put Taiwan on high alert.

Captain Hsiao Shun-ming of the Taiwanese Navy praised the capabilities of the Tuo Chiang-class corvettes, describing them as a “formidable competitive power” due to their speed, stealth capabilities, and ability to execute precise strikes against larger adversaries.
