Kyiv: The war in Ukraine continues to expand in unexpected ways, pulling in participants from across the globe. What began nearly three years ago as a regional conflict has escalated into an international struggle, with shifting alliances and surprising new players.
Among the most unexpected developments is the reported involvement of North Korean troops. This raises significant questions about the lengths to which Russia is willing to go for military support, according to Ziare.

In a dramatic twist, Ukrainian forces have reportedly captured a wounded North Korean soldier, marking the first such incident since North Korea began deploying troops to assist Russia.
South Korea’s intelligence agency confirmed the capture, stating that it occurred in Russia’s Kursk region. Images of the soldier, appearing gaunt and injured, have circulated on platforms like Telegram, though specific details about his condition remain undisclosed.
Ukrainian publication Militarnyi reported that the operation was carried out by Ukrainian special forces. However, neither Ukrainian nor North Korean officials have made public statements about the event.

Reports suggest that North Korea has dispatched approximately 11,000 soldiers to aid Russia, following a defense agreement signed earlier this year between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
