The incident started at 7:24 a.m. (2224 GMT), impacting both internal and external systems, according to the airline. In response, JAL temporarily deactivated a router causing the system disruptions and halted ticket sales for flights scheduled to depart on Thursday.

Meanwhile, ANA Holdings, Japan’s other primary air carrier, reported no indications of a similar cyberattack affecting its systems, as per a company spokesperson.

This incident follows a recent technical glitch faced by American Airlines earlier in the week. The issue, which involved network hardware, forced the airline to ground all flights for an hour on Christmas Eve, affecting thousands of travelers.
