The deal also covers facility studies, design, construction, and related support services.

Washington: The Biden Administration has approved a $1.17 billion sale of MH-60R Multi-Mission Helicopter equipment and related systems to India, notifying Congress of the decision on Monday.

According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), this proposed sale will enhance India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities, enabling it to deter current and future threats. The announcement comes just weeks before the end of President Joe Biden’s four-year term, with President-elect Donald Trump set to take office on January 20, 2025.

India has requested 30 Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio Systems (MIDS-JTRS), along with a range of other advanced systems, including external fuel tanks, AN/AAS 44C(V) forward-looking infrared (FLIR) systems, operator machine interface assistants, spare containers, and munitions. The deal also covers facility studies, design, construction, and related support services.
