Russia Seizes Two Settlements in Donetsk as Offensive Intensifies

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared updates on Telegram, stating that Ukraine had shot down more than 30 Russian attack drones overnight.

Moscow: On Sunday, December 1, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that its forces had seized control of two settlements, Ilyinka and Petrovka, in the Donetsk region. The announcement marks a continued push in Russia’s ongoing military campaign in Ukraine.

In a statement, the Russian Defense Ministry also reported a significant defensive action, revealing that its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 29 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across the Bryansk, Kaluga, Smolensk, and Kursk regions during the night.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared updates on Telegram, stating that Ukraine had shot down more than 30 Russian attack drones overnight. He added that over the past week, Russia had launched over 500 guided aerial bombs, nearly 660 attack drones, and approximately 120 missiles of various types at Ukraine.

Based on reports from the Russian Defense Ministry, TASS has calculated that Russian forces captured 88 settlements across several Ukrainian regions, including Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia, Kursk, and Kharkov, in the fall of 2024.
