Ceasefire: Thousands Return to Southern Lebanon in Response to Speaker Berri’s Call

Lebanon’s roads are filled with thousands of people today heading home to the South to find what’s left of their villages.

Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri has issued an impassioned call for all displaced Lebanese, including those living abroad, to return to their homeland. In a heartfelt address, Berri emphasized the importance of returning to their roots and revitalizing areas that have been affected by conflict.

Addressing the nation, Berri stated, “I call you to come back to your country, come back to your towns and come back to the places where you were born.” He highlighted the symbolic and emotional significance of returning, linking it directly to the sacrifices made by those who have fought for the nation, saying, “You should protect the land that saw the blood of all the martyrs.”

Berri’s message was not just about reclaiming physical space but also about restoring vitality and life to regions impacted by what he described as “Israeli occupation and aggression.” He urged, “Come back to your land and bring back life to all the neighborhoods that the Israeli occupation and aggression tried to destroy.”
