New York: Apple has officially launched its first suite of Apple Intelligence (AI) features through the iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1 updates. This rollout brings enhanced AI capabilities to iPhones, iPads, and Macs, following the announcement made during the WWDC in June.

Apple Intelligence introduces a range of innovative tools designed to elevate the user experience across all Apple devices. The AI-powered features include an upgraded Siri, writing assistance tools, notification summaries, email management enhancements, and photo cleanup capabilities. According to Apple CEO Tim Cook, these advancements build upon years of innovation in AI and machine learning, aiming to deliver a personal intelligence system that is user-friendly while prioritizing privacy.

iPhones Compatible with Apple Intelligence

Not all iPhones are compatible with Apple Intelligence. The new features are available exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and the entire iPhone 16 series. Users with these models can access the latest AI tools through the iOS 18.1 update.

Notable Features of Apple Intelligence

  • Systemwide Writing Tools: These tools are integrated across iOS, iPadOS, and macOS, assisting users in rewriting, proofreading, and summarizing text in applications like Mail, Messages, Notes, and various third-party platforms. The AI-powered Rewrite feature allows users to adjust the tone of their writing to be professional, concise, or friendly. Users can also summarize content into paragraphs, bullet points, or lists.
  • New Siri: Siri has been revamped with a fresh appearance, featuring a glowing light around the screen when activated on iPhones, iPads, or in CarPlay. On Mac, Siri can be positioned anywhere on the desktop for convenient access. Users can now type or speak to Siri, seamlessly switching between text and voice input. Additionally, Siri now provides more comprehensive answers to Apple-related inquiries and retains context across multiple requests.
  • Enhanced Photos App: The Photos app has been upgraded with Apple Intelligence, enabling users to search for images using natural language. The new Cleanup tool removes distractions from photos while preserving the original moment. Users can also create custom movies simply by typing a description of their desired content.
  • Priority Messages: Apple Intelligence enhances messaging with a feature that summarizes long or stacked notifications, particularly in group chats. This feature prioritizes important messages, helping users maintain focus. Furthermore, in the Notes and Phone apps, users can record, transcribe, and summarize audio, with summaries available after calls.
