Bumrah Appointed Vice-Captain for Tests Against New Zealand

The Test series is set to begin in Bengaluru on October 16, with subsequent matches scheduled in Pune and Mumbai.

Mumbai: India’s pace spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, has been appointed as the vice-captain for the upcoming three-match home Test series against New Zealand, starting next week. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made this announcement alongside the release of the 15-member squad.

Notably absent from the spin-heavy lineup are bowlers Mohammed Shami and Yash Dayal. Shami is currently recovering from ankle surgery and has not played since the 2023 World Cup. Despite his absence, India’s pace attack will be spearheaded by Bumrah, supported by Mohammed Siraj.

The Test series will kick off in Bengaluru on October 16, followed by matches in Pune and Mumbai.
