Jerusalem: The Gaza-based Hamas militant group claimed responsibility on Wednesday (October 2) for a terrorist attack in Tel Aviv that left at least seven people dead. The stabbing and shooting assault targeted the Tel Aviv light rail station in Jaffa and was executed by two armed individuals.

In a statement, Hamas declared, “The Ezzedine Al-Qassam Brigades takes responsibility for the heroic Jaffa operation carried out by the fighters from the (occupied West Bank) city of Hebron.”

Israeli police reported on October 1 that one of the assailants, both of whom were from the West Bank, was shot dead at the scene, while the other sustained serious injuries.
