New York: OpenAI is set to launch its latest AI innovation, “Strawberry”, in the next two weeks, as part of its ChatGPT service, according to a report by The Information on September 10. The announcement comes from sources who have had access to the new model.
Strawberry stands out from existing conversational AIs due to its unique capability to “think” before responding, rather than providing immediate answers. Although integrated into ChatGPT, Strawberry will function as a distinct offering, though its exact implementation remains uncertain.
One potential approach to its deployment could involve adding Strawberry to the dropdown menu of AI models available for ChatGPT users to select from.
In July, Reuters reported that OpenAI, backed by Microsoft, was developing an innovative AI model under the project code-named Strawberry. The aim of this project is to enable AI to generate responses and conduct comprehensive internet research independently by planning and navigating, a capability not seen in previous AI models.

Strawberry is designed with a specialized method for processing AI models after they have been pre-trained on extensive datasets. OpenAI hopes this advancement will significantly enhance the reasoning abilities of its AI models, as reported by Reuters.
When inquired about Strawberry, an OpenAI spokesperson stated, “We want our AI models to see and understand the world more like we do. Continuous research into new AI capabilities is a common practice in the industry, with a shared belief that these systems will improve in reasoning over time.”
