Brussels: NATO member states have committed to significantly boosting their military support for Ukraine, as announced by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg following the Ukraine-NATO Council meeting in Brussels on August 28. This development was reported by the Odessa Journal.
“Allies have confirmed that they will enhance military assistance to Ukraine. We must continue to provide Ukraine with the equipment and ammunition needed to defend against Russia’s invasion. This is vital for Ukraine’s ability to keep fighting,” Stoltenberg stated, according to the alliance’s website.
The meeting, held at the ambassadorial level, included Ukrainian Minister Rustem Umerov, who participated via video link. Convened at Ukraine’s request, the session focused on the escalating Russian airstrikes targeting Ukrainian civilians and critical infrastructure.
NATO diplomats also addressed the ongoing Ukrainian military operation in the Russian region of Kursk.
During the meeting, Minister Umerov provided updates on the latest Russian air attacks, the combat situation in Donbas, and the objectives of the Kursk operation. He also expressed gratitude for the recent pledges of assistance from NATO allies, highlighting the delivery of F-16 fighter jets as a key development.

This NATO meeting in Brussels sets the stage for further high-level discussions among European leaders. On the morning of August 29, EU foreign ministers will convene, with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba in attendance.
