Russia’s Saratov Airport Rescinds Flight Restrictions Following Ukrainian Drone Attack

Moscow: Saratov regional airport in Russia has lifted flight restrictions imposed after a Ukrainian drone attack caused damage to homes and injured a woman. The restrictions were removed around 9:30 a.m. local time (0530 GMT), as reported by Russia’s RIA news agency.

Details of the Attack

According to regional governor Roman Basurgin, falling debris from drones intercepted by Russia’s air defense systems damaged a residential complex in Saratov. “A woman was hospitalized in serious condition,” Basurgin stated. “Doctors are fighting for her life.”

The Russian defense ministry reported that nine drones were destroyed over the Saratov region, which is approximately 900 kilometers (560 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Basurgin also noted that emergency services have been deployed to affected areas in Saratov and Engels, key cities in the region.

Damage and Response

The Russian news channel SHOT shared footage on Telegram showing a high-rise residential building in Saratov with significant damage, including blown-out windows across three floors. In Engels, another residential building sustained damage to its top floor.
