Sicily: The bodies of British tech entrepreneur Mike Lynch and his daughter Hannah have been identified among the wreckage of the sunken Bayesian yacht. Initial reports indicated that two bodies had been recovered but remained unidentified among the six people initially reported missing.
Angela Bacares, Lynch’s wife, was reportedly able to escape the sinking vessel before it capsized. Salvo Cocina, head of Sicily’s civil protection, confirmed that divers have located two more bodies and are actively searching for the remaining missing individuals.
Mike Lynch and Daughter’s Bodies Recovered
The Telegraph reported that the bodies of Lynch, 59, and his 18-year-old daughter were found on Wednesday in one of the yacht’s cabins, “between two mattresses.” Rescue operations to locate the missing passengers of the Bayesian yacht continued on August 21.
Salvo Cocina expressed his condolences, stating, “On behalf of myself and my colleagues, I would like to express my deepest sympathy to the families of the victims and express our condolences to them at this difficult time.”
This tragic incident comes shortly after Lynch, often referred to as ‘Britain’s Bill Gates,’ left a San Francisco courthouse a free man following a prolonged 13-year legal battle. With tears in his eyes, he vowed to advocate for changes to Britain’s extradition laws.

Who Else Is Still Missing?
The missing list includes notable figures such as Morgan Stanley chairman Jonathan Bloomer and his wife Judy, New York City lawyer Christopher Morvillo, and his wife Neda, a jewelry designer. Morvillo, Lynch’s attorney, played a crucial role in clearing Lynch of fraud charges related to the 2011 sale of his Autonomy company to Hewlett-Packard.
A total of 22 people were aboard the yacht, including 10 crew members and 12 guests, when it capsized during a violent storm near Porticello early Monday morning. Mike Lynch and his daughter are the second and third individuals found following the initial recovery of the yacht’s cook, Recaldo Thomas.
Reports indicate that a diving team was seen bringing a green body bag to the Port of Porticello, where numerous emergency workers remain on standby.
