Swiss International’s Boeing 777 Diverts to Kazakhstan After Medical Incident and Runway Issues

After landing, the Boeing 777-300ER's nose wheel got stuck in the grass, needing towing back onto the runway.

Astana: Swiss International Air Lines’ Boeing 777 flying from Tokyo to Zurich made an emergency landing in Kazakhstan on Saturday following a medical incident onboard. After landing, the aircraft encountered additional complications, the airline revealed in a statement.

Upon touching down, the nose wheel of the Boeing 777-300ER became stuck in the grass off the runway, requiring assistance to tow the aircraft back onto the tarmac. “The aircraft will undergo a thorough inspection for potential damage and will be subject to investigation,” Swiss International said.

The airline confirmed that none of the 319 passengers onboard were injured as a result of the incident. Boeing has not yet responded to requests for comment outside of regular business hours.
