The Ukrainian operation in Kursk Oblast serves multiple purposes. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, the operation aims to hinder Russia’s ability to reinforce its positions in Donetsk Oblast, disrupt Russian supply lines, and prevent cross-border attacks. This strategy shifts focus from relying solely on long-range strikes with Western weapons, which are constrained by international agreements.
