New York: Global internet traffic surged during Elon Musk’s interview with Donald Trump on X, formerly known as Twitter, with viewership reportedly exceeding 200 million.
“Almost all of the legacy media will trash the Trump conversation, thus driving total listeners probably past 200 million,” Elon Musk posted on X, reflecting on the unprecedented attention the event garnered.
Later, Musk made another claim in a post on X –
The interview, which faced a 45-minute delay due to technical issues, extended for over two hours. As it progressed, Trump’s X handle reportedly “received over 200 million impressions,” according to Collin Rugg, co-owner of Trending Politics.
In this highly anticipated dialogue, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump delivered a mix of grievances, personal attacks, and bold assertions, while Musk occasionally offered subtle nods of agreement.
Trump began by making a dramatic claim about Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the U.S. presidential race, describing it as a “coup”.
“I beat Biden so badly in the debate that he was forced out of the race — one of the greatest debate performances ever. Biden’s exit was a coup,” the 78-year-old former president asserted to Musk.
Reflecting on an assassination attempt against him, Trump described the experience to Musk as “not pleasant”.
“It was a hard hit. It was very, I guess you would say, surreal, but it was not surreal. You know, I was telling somebody, you have instances like this where you feel it’s a surreal situation. And I never felt that way. I knew immediately that it was a bullet,” Trump explained in response to Musk’s inquiry about the incident.
Prior to the interview, Trump made a notable return to X, temporarily leaving behind his platform, Truth Social, for the first time in nearly a year. He shared a collage of himself and Musk with the caption, “Donald J. Trump and Elon Musk live on X,” along with the note, “Monday 8 pm ET/5 pm PT,” and added a playful caption, “Enjoy!”
