Washington: On Monday (as per local time), the White House emphasized the pivotal nature of the US-India relationship, with President Joe Biden considering it one of the most consequential global partnerships. According to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, both nations work closely on critical priorities, including the QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue).
Jean-Pierre highlighted that the United States collaborates with India on vital issues, notably through the QUAD and the US-India initiative focused on emerging technologies. “So look, the president views our relationship, the United States’ relationship with India, as one of the most consequential in the world. And so we work closely with India on our most vital priorities, including through the Quad and the US-India initiative on this critical and emerging technology,” she stated during the briefing.
She further stressed the US commitment to expanding this “critically important partnership,” which aims to benefit both American and Indian populations. “And so we look forward to continuing to expand our critical and critically important partnership and how it’s going to benefit the American people. And we want to create a more prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific and the world. And so that is going to continue to be our focus as we move forward,” Jean-Pierre added.

The US, along with India, Australia, and Japan, is a key participant in the QUAD, which is dedicated to ensuring an open, stable, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region that is inclusive and resilient.
In a recent Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting held on July 29 in Tokyo, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa, and Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and strengthening the international order for global benefit.

The joint statement from the meeting noted, “We look forward to India hosting the next Quad Leaders’ Summit later this year, and to the United States hosting the next Quad Foreign Ministers’ meeting in 2025.” It also highlighted the bloc’s efforts to advance a positive agenda for the Indo-Pacific region’s sustainable development, stability, and prosperity, promoting free choice, partnership, equality, and mutual respect in cooperation and trade.
