Kyiv: Explosions were heard late Saturday night in the center and eastern regions of Kyiv, the Ukrainian capital, as two Russian missiles targeted the city, according to Ukraine’s air force. AFP journalists on the ground reported the sounds of blasts and observed at least two bright flashes lighting up the night sky.
Air raid sirens echoed throughout Kyiv, prompting immediate activation of the city’s air defense systems, as confirmed by Kyiv’s military administration via Telegram. In addition to Kyiv, Ukraine’s air force indicated that five other regions were under attack by drones.
Concerns have been mounting among Ukrainians that Moscow may intensify air raids in retaliation for Kyiv’s recent military actions inside Russian territory.
As of now, Ukrainian officials have not provided details regarding potential casualties or damage resulting from the strikes. Ukraine continues to face relentless and deadly air assaults from Russian missiles and drones.

Kyiv has persistently urged its Western allies to supply additional air-defense systems to bolster its defenses.
Meanwhile, on the Russian side, the governor of the Kursk region, Alexei Smirnov, reported that 13 people were injured in Kursk city during the night. Among the injured, two individuals were seriously hurt when debris from a downed Ukrainian missile struck a building.
