Congolese Sprinter Dominique Lasconi Mulamba Faces Provisional Suspension for Banned Substance

The positive sample was reportedly collected the day after his race in Paris.

Paris: Congolese sprinter Dominique Lasconi Mulamba has been provisionally suspended following a positive test for a banned substance, as announced by the International Testing Agency (ITA) on Sunday. This suspension comes shortly after Mulamba’s participation in the Olympic 100 meters event in Paris.

Mulamba advanced through the preliminaries with a time of 10.54 seconds but was eliminated in the first round on August 3, finishing seventh with a time of 10.53 seconds. The positive sample was reportedly collected the day after his race in Paris.

Mulamba has the option to contest the provisional suspension before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and may request an analysis of his “B-sample”.

Several positive tests have emerged from the Games, including those of Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen, Afghan judoka Mohammad Samim Faizad, and Nigerian boxing champion Cynthia Ogunsemilore.
