Airstrike Kills Five Pro-Iran Fighters in Eastern Syria, Security Sources Report

The eastern border region of Syria, adjacent to Iraq, is predominantly controlled by armed groups aligned with Iran.

Damascus: An airstrike targeting a vehicle in eastern Syria, near the volatile border with Iraq, has resulted in the deaths of at least five fighters affiliated with pro-Iran units, according to two security sources in the region who spoke with the international news agency Reuters.

One source reported that the strike was executed by a drone, though the specific military responsible for the drone remains unidentified. The second source indicated that the airstrike hit the fighters as they were changing shifts at a checkpoint.
