US Warns Iran Against Attacking Israel

Washington, D.C., August 9, 2024 — A senior official from the Biden administration has issued a stern warning to Iran, emphasizing that there is no justification for a military attack on Israel. This statement follows the recent assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, which has been widely attributed to Israel.

“There is absolutely no legitimate basis for Iran to launch a military attack against Israel, despite its threats,” the official stated during a briefing with reporters. The US is prepared to respond to any potential threats and has increased military deployments in the region, including the arrival of F-22 fighter jets.

President Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met earlier today to review US military strategies and deployments aimed at protecting Israel from potential Iranian aggression. The senior official also noted that any direct attack on Israel could have significant consequences for Iran, including economic repercussions.
