SpaceX Dragon Returns to West Coast for Safer Recovery Operations

SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft is set to resume recovery operations on the U.S. West Coast following the discovery of trunk debris on land. Originally, Dragon recovery took place on the West Coast until 2019, after which operations shifted to the East Coast for greater efficiency. However, safety concerns have prompted a return to the West Coast.

To enhance safety, the Dragon will now execute its deorbit burn prior to jettisoning the trunk, ensuring a controlled reentry and a splashdown off the coast of California.
