Malaysia Coast Guard Locates Oil Tanker Involved in Collision Off Singapore

The Ceres I was discovered in Malaysian waters, being towed by two tugboats.

Kuala Lumpur: Malaysia’s coast guard announced on Sunday that it had successfully located and intercepted a large oil tanker, the Ceres I, which was involved in a fiery collision with another vessel two days prior off the coast of Singapore.

On Saturday, the coast guard reported that the Sao Tome and Principe-flagged tanker, Ceres I, had left the collision site, which had resulted in a fire and injuries to at least two crew members. The tanker was also suspected of having turned off its tracking system.

The Ceres I was discovered in Malaysian waters, being towed by two tugboats, according to a statement released by the coast guard on Sunday. Both the tanker and the tugboats have been detained for further investigation.
