New York: Exelon Corporation and its affiliated electric and natural gas utilities experienced disruptions due to a global technology outage, the U.S. power company reported on Friday. Based in Chicago, Exelon is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States and is currently evaluating the extent of the impact from this cyber incident.
Exelon issued a statement indicating, “As a result of a third-party worldwide technology issue, we have implemented processes to continue to support operations, including processing and responding to electric and natural gas emergencies and outages safely and reliably. We are continuing to assess the impact of this third-party event and activate contingency and recovery plans.”

In addition to Exelon, several U.S. power utilities, including one operated by the City of Corpus Christi, Texas, have encountered issues related to the global cyber outage. This disruption follows a reported update by CrowdStrike affecting Microsoft Windows hosts across various industries.
