Oman Mosque Attack: Four Killed, Including Two Pakistani Nationals

Muscat: Gunfire near a mosque in Oman resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left several others injured, according to local police reports on Tuesday. This incident marks a rare breach of security in Oman, known as one of the most stable countries in the Middle East.

The Pakistani foreign ministry labeled the incident a “terrorist attack” that occurred in Wadi al-Kabir, located in the governorate of Muscat, the nation’s capital. The attack tragically claimed the lives of two Pakistani nationals.

“We are heartened that the government of Oman has neutralized the attackers,” stated the Pakistani ministry in a released statement.

The U.S. Embassy in Muscat acknowledged the shooting incident and issued a cautionary advisory. “U.S. citizens should remain vigilant, monitor local news and heed directions of local authorities,” the embassy stated in a communication.

Oman, known for its neutrality in the tumultuous Middle Eastern region, has played a crucial role in mediating disputes, including those between the United States and Iran.
