FBI Gains Access to Trump Shooting Suspect’s Phone

Washington: The FBI announced on Monday that it has gained access to the phone of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the suspect in the shooting of former President Donald Trump. The investigation is ongoing as authorities seek to uncover the motive behind the crime.

The FBI emphasized that the investigation into Saturday’s shooting is still in its early stages. The incident is being treated as both an assassination attempt and potential domestic terrorism.

“FBI technical specialists successfully gained access to Thomas Matthew Crooks’ phone, and they continue to analyze his electronic devices,” stated the FBI. “The search of the subject’s residence and vehicle is complete.”

The bureau has conducted nearly 100 interviews with law enforcement personnel, event attendees, and other witnesses. During a call with reporters on Sunday, FBI officials mentioned that they have not yet been able to attribute an ideology or find evidence of a motive for the shooting.

The AR-style 556 rifle used by the shooter was legally purchased by his father. Officials reported no indications that the suspect suffered from any mental health issues. A preliminary review of recent calls and texts by the shooter did not provide insight into his motive or whether others were aware of his plans.

In the incident at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was grazed by a bullet on his right ear. One supporter was killed, and two others were wounded before Secret Service agents shot and killed 20-year-old Crooks.
