Spanish Police Conclude Search for British Teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife

Nineteen-year-old Slater disappeared while on holiday, with his last known phone signal traced to the rugged Masca ravine in a remote national park in northern Tenerife.

Madrid: Spanish police have announced the conclusion of their search for British teenager Jay Slater, who went missing on June 17 while vacationing on the Canary island of Tenerife. However, authorities emphasize that the case remains open with multiple ongoing lines of investigation.

“The search operation is no longer active, but the case is still open and there are several lines of investigation,” a Civil Guard spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters.

Nineteen-year-old Slater disappeared while on holiday, with his last known phone signal traced to the rugged Masca ravine in a remote national park in northern Tenerife.

Since his disappearance, a comprehensive search effort involving dozens of police officers, rescue teams, and firefighters has been underway in the challenging terrain. Teams utilized dogs, drones, and helicopters to scour the steep valley.

“The search has continued for many days due to the difficult access and rocky terrain,” the spokeswoman explained.

In a joint effort, over 30 individuals, including volunteers, joined the official search teams on Saturday to comb the area thoroughly.
