HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ Adaptation to Feature ‘Succession’ Creators

The "Harry Potter" series, described by HBO as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved book series, has yet to be officially titled.

Los Angeles: HBO has announced that its upcoming “Harry Potter” television series will be led by “Succession” alumni Francesca Gardiner, who will serve as writer and showrunner, and Mark Mylod, who will direct several episodes.

Both Gardiner and Mylod come with strong credentials from their work on HBO’s acclaimed series “Succession”, which delves into the complexities of a media dynasty and has earned 19 Emmy Awards. Gardiner’s role included producing, while Mylod contributed as a director and producer.

Gardiner is also recognized for her involvement in HBO’s fantasy epic “His Dark Materials,” while Mylod has directed episodes of “Game of Thrones” and is slated for the upcoming second season of “The Last of Us”.

The “Harry Potter” series, described by HBO as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series, has yet to be officially titled. Rowling expressed her optimism for the series, stating, “I’m truly thrilled to announce our director and writer, both of whom I interviewed as part of the production team.” She added, “Both have a genuine passion for #HarryPotter, and having read Francesca’s pilot script and heard Mark’s vision, I’m certain the TV show will more than live up to expectations.”

HBO plans to introduce ‘Harry Potter’ and its magical world to new global audiences with each season, while ensuring the enduring appeal of the original films remains at the heart of the franchise.
