More than 64% of American travelers have cited rising local temperatures as a decisive factor in choosing vacation spots that offer more comfortable climates.

New York: Amid heat warnings sweeping across the United States, Booking.com reports a significant shift in Americans’ July 4th travel plans towards cooler locales, with coastal and water-centric destinations topping the list. According to data shared with Reuters, about one-third of travelers are opting for vacations that involve aquatic activities, such as floating yoga.

The urgency to beat the heat is palpable as over 100 million Americans are under heat warnings, with record-breaking temperatures expected, particularly on the East Coast and extending across the West Coast due to a persistent heat dome.

More than 64% of American travelers have cited rising local temperatures as a decisive factor in choosing vacation spots that offer more comfortable climates, as revealed by Booking.com’s insights. For instance, searches for destinations like Panama City Beach, Florida, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, have surged by 32% and 30% respectively compared to last year during the July 3 to July 7 period.
