India Responds to Canadian Parliament’s ‘Moment of Silence’ for Nijjar, Khalistan ‘Citizen Court’

New Delhi: India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) responded on Friday to the Canadian Parliament’s observance of a ‘moment of silence’ for Hardeep Singh Nijjar, expressing opposition to “giving political space to extremism”.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, in a press conference, addressed the Canadian Parliament’s tribute to Nijjar, stating, “We naturally oppose any moves giving political space to extremism and advocacy of violence.”

Regarding the Khalistan ‘Citizen Court’, Jaiswal noted, “We have registered a strong protest with the Canadian High Commission in India and strongly taken up the issue with them.”
