Madrid: Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles has reiterated her strong opposition to the idea of deploying Spanish troops to Ukraine. In an interview with EFE on Monday, Robles emphasized the potential for escalation should NATO troops become involved in the conflict.
According to EFE news agency reports, Robles voiced concerns about the possibility of NATO troop presence in Ukraine leading to increased tensions.
“We need to proceed cautiously to avoid such escalation,” she emphasized.
Robles pointed out that NATO has consistently emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could exacerbate the Ukrainian crisis.

While Spain remains opposed to sending troops, Robles acknowledged that other European countries are considering deploying military personnel to Ukraine for training purposes.
Madrid respects these decisions but has opted not to follow suit.
