Moscow: Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council, recently issued a stark warning to NATO countries via his Telegram channel.
In his message, Medvedev made it clear that any NATO-sanctioned strikes on Russian soil would not only prompt retaliation within Ukraine but also against the nations facilitating such attacks.
A Firm Message to NATO Medvedev’s statement leaves little room for interpretation.
“All their military equipment and specialists fighting against us will be destroyed both on the territory of former Ukraine and on the territory of other countries if strikes are carried out from there against Russian territory,” he declared, as reported by the Russian news outlet TASS.
The senior Russian official emphasized Moscow’s perception that all long-range weaponry supplied to Ukraine is effectively operated by personnel from NATO nations.

According to Medvedev, this perspective implies NATO’s direct involvement in the conflict against Russia, potentially justifying retaliatory military actions.
Medvedev also urged NATO to consider the legal ramifications of potential strikes on its assets, installations, and personnel, citing Articles 4 and 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Articles 4 and 5 delineate NATO’s collective defense measures, where an attack on one member is regarded as an attack on all.
However, the treaty does not specify the precise actions NATO might undertake, instead establishing a consultation mechanism to determine an appropriate response.
