Bangkok: Four days after a Singapore Airlines flight experienced severe turbulence, forty-three individuals remain hospitalized in Bangkok, as reported by a hospital in the Thai capital on Saturday. The patients are distributed across three different hospitals, with Samitivej Srinakarin hospital hosting the majority, according to a statement released by the hospital.
At Samitivej Srinakarin hospital, where 34 of the patients are being treated, seven are currently in intensive care. The nationalities of these intensive care patients include three Australians, two Malaysians, one British, and one New Zealander, as per the statement. Additionally, the other 27 patients from the flight at the hospital comprise eight British, six Australian, five Malaysian, and two Philippine citizens.

The statement further noted that two individuals were discharged from Samitivej Srinakarin hospital, while two others from Samitivej Sukhumvit hospital were transferred to Samitivej Srinakarin to be with their hospitalized relatives.
Earlier on Thursday, the director of Samitivej Srinakarin hospital informed reporters that among the patients, 22 had sustained spinal cord injuries, and six had brain and skull injuries, with none deemed life-threatening.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when Singapore Airlines Flight SQ321, en route from London to Singapore, encountered sudden and extreme turbulence while flying over Myanmar. This led to one passenger’s tragic death from a suspected heart attack and left dozens injured. The flight, carrying 211 passengers and 18 crew members, diverted to Bangkok for an emergency landing.
