Banska Bystrica: Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, recuperating from an assassination attempt last week where he sustained four gunshot wounds, underwent a follow-up abdominal CT scan. Doctors overseeing his treatment confirmed his consciousness and ability to communicate, noting ongoing efforts to enhance his health.
“In addition, further measures are being implemented to enhance his health status,” stated the hospital in Banska Bystrica, central Slovakia.

Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak provided updates on Sunday, assuring the public that while Fico’s life was no longer immediately threatened, his condition remained too critical for transfer to a hospital in the capital, Bratislava.

The suspected perpetrator, 71-year-old Juraj C., formerly a security guard at a shopping mall and author of three poetry collections, is under scrutiny by investigators. Estok disclosed plans to ascertain whether Juraj C. was part of a broader network that may have incited each other to carry out the assassination attempt.
