Moscow: Tragedy struck the Russian border provinces of Belgorod and Kursk as two individuals lost their lives and another sustained injuries in separate Ukrainian drone strikes, as confirmed by the governors of these regions on Saturday.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of the Belgorod region conveyed in a statement on the Telegram messaging app that one person was killed and another injured when a Ukrainian drone targeted a parked truck in the border village of Novostroyevka-Pervaya.

Meanwhile, Roman Starovoit, the governor of the neighboring Kursk region, reported that a civilian succumbed to injuries sustained in a drone strike on the frontier town of Sudzha.
The ongoing conflict has rendered both Belgorod and Kursk regions vulnerable to frequent attacks since Moscow deployed tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February 2022.

Additionally, a Moscow-appointed official in Ukraine’s Luhansk region disclosed that the death toll from a missile strike, resulting in a significant fire and extensive damage at a fuel depot in the town of Rovenky, has climbed to four, with 11 others sustaining injuries.
Russia’s defense ministry announced earlier on Saturday that it had thwarted numerous attempted Ukrainian drone and rocket artillery strikes on its territory. According to a statement released on Telegram, Russian forces successfully intercepted 21 rockets and 16 drones across the Belgorod, Kursk, and Volgograd regions.
