Hezbollah Claims Drone Strike Hits Northern Israeli Town, Reports of Casualties

Beirut: Hezbollah asserted on Monday that it executed a drone assault targeting an Israeli military outpost near the northern Israeli town of Metula, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries.

Israel’s military stated it was unable to immediately verify the extent of the injuries or casualties but acknowledged the breach of airspace by a drone originating from Lebanon into the Metula vicinity. Israeli media outlets indicated that two individuals sustained severe injuries in the attack.

Additionally, the Iran-backed Hezbollah declared that it launched numerous rockets towards military installations along the border with Israel.

The ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the latter of which has amassed considerable weaponry since 2006, has seen a surge in cross-border exchanges over the past six months, coinciding with Israel’s military operations in Gaza.

Hezbollah has thus far limited its attacks to a specific stretch of northern Israel, with the apparent intention of diverting Israeli attention away from Gaza.
